2009 New BMW Z4 Coupe Review
The new BMW Z4 Coupe is a stunning looking car, conceived at the same time as the Z4 Roadster, the Z4 Coupe is the latest edition to the Z4 range.
Although the new BMW Z4 Coupe shares many of the lines of its Roadster sibling, the new Z4 Coupe has classic GT styling, the long bonnet leading up to the double bubble roof that tapers down to the subtle spoiler on the boot lid, the Z4 Coupe looks just as it should, a true two seater sports car. So when Adrian van Hooydonk (head of BMW brand Design) said "The new BMW Z4 Coupe is best described as a pocket GT. The car has been design to feel shrink-wrapped around its components and occupants to create the tightest packaged high-performance long distance GT car ever." It's hard not to believe him.
The new BMW Z4 Coupe is powered by the lightest 3.0 litre mass produced petrol engine in the world and the power output of 265bhp is transmitted through a six speed close ratio manual gearbox that propels you from 0 - 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds, the top speed, as with all BMW super cars, is limited to 155 mph. There is also the option of a six speed automatic gearbox with gearshift paddles on the steering wheel and sporting gear change characteristics.
Inside the cockpit the Z4 Coupe is everything you would expect from BMW. Although the fit may be "snug", as soon as you turn the key and wrap your hands round the thick leather rimmed steering wheel all is forgotten apart from the road ahead. With the rear wheels providing the drive the new BMW Z4 Coupe is perfectly balanced, light responsive steering and a host of electronic gadgetry keep you pointing in the right direction as this BMW powered missile takes you in it's grip and propels you ever onwards.
