2008 New MINI Clubman Review
BMW could never have expected the new MINI to be as successful as it has turned out to be, however, the next problem is how to add to the range without damaging the brand. The answer has turned out to be far simpler than it would first appear to be, just revive a MINI model from the past. Say hello to the new MINI Clubman Estate. Okay, so it may not be a proper estate, but as with all other MINI models it's certainly fun, even if it doesn't have a mock Tudor rear end like its predecessor.
With side hinged rear doors and a rear passenger door (behind the drivers door) the Clubman has more room than its siblings and is easier to access, but this is still no TARDIS, having said that, the rear seats will now accommodate two adults without the need for Yoga lessons. Fit and finish is everything you would expect from MINI and the Clubman will no doubt prove to be popular with those who like the MINI but just canĀ?t live with the lack of space.
It may be longer and therefore heavier than the hatch, but donĀ?t worry, the Clubman handles like a MINI should and its still hard to wipe the smile off your face whilst driving, this fun factor will ensure the Clubman holds its value for the second-hand market, meaning it will no doubt hold its residual value well. Another success for BMW? Probably.
