2010 New MINI One Convertible Review
How much fun is it possible to have with your clothes on? Sit behind the wheel of a MINI One Convertible and the chances are you're just about to find out.
Hood up or hood down the MINI One Convertible above all looks like a MINI and handles like a MINI and with the top dropped it really is a pleasure on the eye. Top up to top down is achieved in two stages, press the button first and the roof slides back to give a 40 cm opening that is basically a sunroof (this can be done at speeds of up to seventy five miles per hour) keep your finger depressed and the MINI One's roof neatly folds onto the back of the car in just fifteen seconds (unfortunately this has to be done when the car is stationary) and although some convertibles may look like a pram at this point the MINI One's folded roof has very little impact on the eye.
Powering the MINI One Convertible is a 1.6 litre petrol engine that produces 90 bhp, because of the additional weight due to the stiffening of the chassis the MINI One Convertible is not as quick off the mark as its hard top sibling and the time taken to accelerate from 0 - 62 mph reflects this at 11.8 seconds, with your foot firmly pressed to the floor the MINI One Convertible will eventually top out at 109 mph.
Inside the MINI One Convertible everything is just as you would expect, the retro feel of the interior fits the car exactly, the large centre mounted speedo and toggle switches obviously hark back to MINI's of the past, but don't be mistaken, the new MINI One Convertible has a blend of up to date technology concealed just under the skin to give you the best of both worlds, anti lock braking, electronic brakeforce distribution, cornering brake control, park distance control (PDC), power steering, four airbags, electric windows, electric wing mirrors and remote central locking are all fitted as standard.
With its great looks and superb residual values the MINI One Convertible is not only the fun choice it's also a practical choice.
