For over thirty years Volkswagen have been producing the Golf, and thirty years on the new Volkswagen Golf has gone back to its roots, despite its new smoother, curvier lines one thing remains, its still a Golf. From the S model through to the mind blowing R32 VW have produced not only a fantastic looking car but with a five star rating for safety from the Euro NCAP, you can rely on the Volkswagen Golf to keep you safe.

Entry level on the golf is the S model, remote central locking, electric front windows, ABS (anti lock braking system), ESP (electronic stabilisation programme) including EDL (electronic differential lock), climatic semi auto controlled air conditioning and six airbags (driver, passenger, curtain and side) are all fitted as standard.

Next up is the SE, standard on this vehicle are, 15” Misano alloy wheels, dusk sensor with automatic driving lights, cruise control, multifunction computer, alarm with interior protection, rear electric windows (five door only) and rain sensor with auto dimming rear view mirror.

The Volkswagen Golf Sport is fitted with 16” Imola alloy wheels, sport suspension (lowered by 15mm), six speed gearbox, leather three-spoke steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake grip, alarm with interior protection and front sport seats with height and lumbar adjustment all as standard.

The Volkswagen Golf GT in both petrol and diesel variants also has a high level of specification including, 16” Imola alloy wheels, front sport seats with height and lumbar adjustment, front fog lights, dusk sensor with automatic driving lights, front footwell illumination and electric windows, front and rear (rear five door only) all as standard, with the option of four wheel drive (4MOTION) also available.

Next the iconic Volkswagen Golf Gti, 17” Monza alloy wheels, the Gti styling pack including front and rear bumpers and the honeycombe front grille, leather three spoke steering wheel with Gti logo, aluminium clutch, brake and accelerator pedals, 2Zone electronic climate control air conditioning system and chrome twin exhaust pipes all combine to give you the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Top of the range is the R32 sitting on 18” Zolder alloy wheels with the R32 logo embossed into the upholstery this really is the next level of the Golf, with aluminium pedals and gearshift knob, bi-xenon headlights with automatic range adjustment, the R32 styling pack including the aluminium look front grille and shaped front and rear bumpers, 4Motion 4 wheel drive system and the twin center chrome tailpipe all as standard combining to ceate an all new level of golf.

Add to some models the direct shift gearbox (DSG) and you have a transmission that not only gives some of the fastest gear changes in the sporty Gti models, but combined with the diesel engine also produces lower revs and therefore saves fuel and gives out less harmful emissions.

The new Volkswagen Golf plus is the new slant on our old favorite, but bigger. With more space in the cabin and raised seating and that little bit more room all round, the Golf Plus is a welcome addition to the family.
