2008 Peugeot 807 Review

When you are looking for a large MPV for you and your family one of the main considerations you need to take into account is the safety of you and your passengers and the Peugeot 807 will not let you down.

With a superb five out of five stars for its Euro ncap safety rating the 807 is a class leader, six airbags that protect all three rows of seats have contributed, as has the fitting of anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, brake assist and a new electronic stability programme (ESP), all designed to keep you and your family safe and secure.

Versatility is always something that comes to the fore when discussing MPV's and the 807 is no exception, with electric sliding rear doors for easy access (except S model), seven seats (eight as an option on the S and SE models), five that can be removed and bags of height and width, the 807 can carry seven people in comfort and style, or if you need to carry something a little more on the large side, remove the five seats and you have a staggering 2948 litres of load space.

Built as a collaboration between Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat, the 807 shares much in common with the C8 and the Ulysse models, however the exterior and interior is all Peugeot and as such the 807 is looked upon as the more upmarket version when compared to the Citroen and the Fiat. On the other hand with more kit fitted as standard, the 807 can work out to be more expensive than its sisters.

One major difference between the 807 and the 806 model that it replaces is the 807 is far less van like than its predecessor, it is not just a van with seats in, the 807 has had far more thought put into its design by Peugeot and is a true MPV in every sense of the word (if MPV is a word).

The 807 is now offered with a choice of three engines, one 2.0 litre petrol derivative or a choice of two 2.0 litre diesel variants that offer power outputs of 120 and 136bhp respectively, transmission is via a six speed manual gearbox (five speed on the S model) or you have the option on the petrol SE and Executive levels of trim of a four speed auto adaptive automatic gear box.

All 807 models have plenty of kit including a CD player, digital air conditioning, remote central locking of doors & tailgate, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, electric boot release on tail gate, steering column mounted remote controls, air conditioned storage compartment in centre console, trip computer, remote headlight adjustment from fascia and integral front fog lights amongst other things all fitted as standard.
