2009 New Renault Espace Review
When Renault introduced the Espace all the way back in 1984, it was the cause of many eyebrows to be raised, the concept of the MPV was in its earliest years with only Chrysler being the other manufacturer to have dipped their toe into the water, sales as a result were terrible as most people could not understand the concept, this was soon to change though and as people came to grips with the idea sales improved rapidly. Twenty odd years on and the Espace is still going strong and now most manufacturers have taken Renault's lead and produce their own MPV's.
The Espace received its latest face-lift in 2006 and indeed Renault came up with a highly imaginative name for the launch "New Espace 2006" (hopefully they didnĀ?t pay too much for this marketing innovation). The name may not be the best, but the Espace could very well fall into that class, this is an MPV that gives its passengers VIP treatment, either in the form of the Espace or in its long wheelbase form, the Grand Espace.
Although the concept of the Espace has remained true throughout the decades, it has also evolved and improved just as you would expect and the latest generation will not disappoint. Moved further upmarket to distinguish itself from the smaller MPV in the Renault range, the Scenic, the Espace and Grand Espace now offer levels of comfort and safety that their competitors find hard to match, build quality has been made even better and all models across the range have more features fitted as standard.
Voted best MPV in 2006 at the Fleet World awards, the Espace is without doubt one of the best MPV's on the market today, whether you need to ferry your family around, or you need a people carrier to impress corporate guests, the Espace and Grand Espace from Renault will be a hard act to beat.
