2008 New Volkswagen Touareg Review
The Volkswagen Touareg is Volkswagen's answer to the luxury 4x4 market and what a luxury 4 x 4, hidden away are a host of electronic driving systems that make it drive like a car on the road but transform it into an extremely capable off roader when you get off the beaten track. The Touareg's body is incredibly strong and with anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-pressure distribution (EBD) and hydraulic brake assist (HBA), 4Motion permanent four wheel drive, driver's and front passenger's airbags with passenger airbag deactivation switch, curtain airbag system and front seat side impact airbags all fitted as standard, it is little wonder the Volkswagen Touareg scores a five out of five Euro ncap safety rating.
The 2.5, V6 and V6 Tdi models of the Volkswagen Touareg all come with, 17" Canyon 5 alloy wheels, Electrically heated, adjustable and folding door mirrors, hill start / descent assist, 2Zone electronic climate control air conditioning system, cruise control, six airbags, walnut interior wood trim, a multifunction computer with 3" monochrome screen and multifunction steering wheel all fitted as standard.
The Volkswagen Touareg SE also has 17" Canyon 5 alloy wheels but its list of standard features also includes, a navigation/radio system with 6 1/2" colour screen, a boot mounted six CD autochanger, cricket leather upholstery, Puddle lights in the front doors and heated front seats.
Next up in the Volkswagen Touareg range is the Volkswagen Touareg Sport, sitting on 16" Valley alloy wheels the sport also has chrome side window surrounds, chrome strips on the door sills, chrome trimmed radiator grille, front fog lights and Myrtle dark wood interior trim are all standard on this model.
The Volkswagen Touareg V8 has 17" Aspen alloys, rain sensor with automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, Engine compartment lights, front seats with electric 12 way adjustment including lumbar support and a twilight sensor over and above the standard specification.
Finally the awesome Volkswagen Touareg V10 Tdi, features on this vehicle over and above standard specification include, 18" Nevada alloy wheels, front and rear parking distance control (optical and acoustic), continuous damping control (CDC) air suspension, this is an automatic self-levelling system with speed sensitive height adjustment, a choice of three suspension settings: comfort, sport and off road and manual vehicle height adjustment for loading, unloading and maximum ground clearance, electric seat adjustment for both front seats with memory, electrically adjustable seat belt height with memory, electrically adjustable steering column with memory, electrically heated and adjustable folding door mirrors with memory, telephone Preparation, metallic or pearl effect paint, puddle lights in all doors, bi-xenon headlamps for dipped and main beam with dynamic curve lighting, audio system 8/11: 8 channel amplifier with 11 speakers, coming and leaving home function, headlamp cleaning system, central locking with keyless access and start, walnut wood insert for dashboard, upper part of centre console, instrument panel and door trim and a Multifunction computer with 5" colour screen, all in all, quite a list.
