With the success of the Xsara Picasso, Citroen have launched the new Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. Acres of glass and an extra two seats distinguish the C4 Grand Picasso from its five seater sibling, although later in 2007, a five seat version of the C4 Picasso will be launched, making Citroen the manufacturer with more MPV's on offer than any other.

Because Citroen Already has so much experience in the MPV market, you would expect the new C4 Grand Picasso to tick all the boxes when it comes to design and it does just that. It's not only the light and airy design with the huge windscreen, the C4 Grand Picasso also has new technology never previously seen in the Citroen range, these options include a parking space measurement system, Hill Start Assist, an air quality sensor with scented air freshener, a Lane Departure Warning System, self-levelling suspension and a paddle gearshift. But it's not all about tricky technology, the C4 Grand Picasso is practical too and in its five-seat configuration (with the second row of seats folded down) the C4 Picasso has the largest load space in its class.

Four engines are on offer in the new C4 Grand Picasso range, two petrol's and two diesels. The choices for the petrol engines are a 1.8 litre unit that develops 127 hp or a 2.0 litre that has an extra 16 hp. The diesel options are either the 1.6 Hdi with a power output of 110hp or a 2.0 litre version that pushes out 138 hp. Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is impressive for all models, with the 1.6 Hdi leading the way returning around 50 mpg.

The new C4 Grand Picasso is a welcome addition to the Citroen MPV range and with it scoring a maximum five out of five stars in its Euro ncap safety rating for adult occupants the new Citroen C4 Picasso is sure to quickly gain market share, because it's not only clever, practical and stylish its safe too.
