2008 Mercedes CLK Coupe Review

Mercedes have a reputation and history for producing superb coupe's and when you take a look at the new Mercedes CLK you can see just why.

With the three pointed star just where it should be, smack in the middle of the grille, the Mercedes CLK Coupe is instantly recognisable as everything a Mercedes coupe should be, sweeping lines, a low roof line and the absence of a b pillar all combine to give a stunning overall look.

As with all Mercedes models you get plenty of kit and all CLK Coupe models have an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with brake assist (BAS), ESP (electronic stability programme) with ASR (acceleration skid control), direct control power steering, direct control suspension, an adaptive accelerator pedal, remote central locking, remote boot release, driver and front passenger airbags, front head/thorax sidebags airbags, alarm system with immobiliser and interior protection, automatic climate control, automatically dimming rear-view mirror and driver's mirror, belt feeders in front, cruise control with Speedtronic variable speed limiter, electrically operated heated and folding door mirrors, electric windows, front and rear fog lights, automatic headlamp activation (headlamp assist), heated screen wash system, leather trimmed steering wheel and gearshift, Mercedes-Benz Audio 20 radio/single CD with 6 speakers a telephone keypad and aerial in rear screen, multi-function steering wheel with trip computer, rain sensing wipers and the Mercedes tyre pressure loss warning system. The Mercedes Neck-Pro head restraints are also a standard feature for the Mercedes CLK Coupe, in the event of a rear end collision, pre tensioned springs release and move the front headrests forwards and upwards to protect the occupants from experiencing whiplash.

The CLK Coupe uses the same petrol engines as its CLK Cabriolet sibling plus two diesel units, the CLK 220 CDi and the CLK 320 CDi, powered by EU compliant diesel engines, a visit to the Mercedes website, www.mercedes.co.uk is recommended to get full specifications for the engines on offer.
