2008 New Toyota Prius Review
The future has already arrived in the shape of the Toyota Prius, Toyota's petrol / electric hybrid vehicle. Because petrol engines aren't very efficient at low speed and electric motors are restricted by their range, the new Prius uses a combination of both. Powered by a 1.5 VVT-I petrol engine and a high output electric motor the Prius gives you a combination of low emissions, fuel economy (a class leading 65.7 mpg on the combined cycle) and low running costs by switching between the two power sources automatically to give you the best performance and efficiency possible. Add to that a well-equipped, roomy cabin and a five star Euro ncap safety rating, the Prius really is a car of the future.
With outstanding levels of equipment fitted as standard, entry level on the Toyota Prius is the T3, amongst other things it has 16" alloy wheels with locking wheel nuts, drive by wire braking, acceleration and gear change, anti lock braking system (ABS) with brake assist (BA), vehicle stability control plus (VSC +), electronic traction control (E-TRC), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), electric windows all round, climate control electric air conditioning with electronic air re-circulation function , a six speaker AM/FM radio / single disc CD player, a seven inch electronic multi vision display, energy absorbing, deformable and retracting steering column, 4-spoke steering wheel with audio and air conditioning controls, driver & front passenger airbags with hybrid inflators, driver & front passenger lateral airbags and front and rear curtain airbags.
If you move up to the Prius T4 you can add cruise control, a JBL audio system with six-disc CD voice activated auto changer and nine speakers and front fog lights all in addition or in replacement of the equipment that is standard on the T3.
The T Spirit is the final model in the Prius range and this trim level has full map satellite navigation and Bluetooth compatible communications technology on top of all the other standard features.
